We are now the tailings and geotechnical consultant of choice for several major mining companies with operations in Australia. As an example of our commitment to leading the industry in innovation and technical excellence, we have recently announced the establishment of an advanced testing facility led by Dr. David Reid. Our expertise, combined with Geosyntec’s world-class reputation in hydrogeology, geochemistry, geotechnical engineering, seismicity and risk allows us to assist our client in meeting their engineering challenges and better understanding their risk. 

 

We have an opportunity available for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Perth Tailings Group. We seek motivated professionals to support our strong and growing project pipeline.

 

At REE, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic and professional knowledge to the real world and Tier 1 energy and resource clients, based at our Perth office.

  • Mine waste and tailings management studies
  • Tailings storage facility design
  • Mine site civil infrastructure design
  • Mine closure planning and design
  • Dam safety reviews and audits
  • Geotechnical investigations, assessments and analysis to support the above.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and co-ordinate geotechnical field investigation programs
  • Oversee and co-ordinate geotechnical laboratory testing programs
  • Work closely with Engineers-of-Record (EoR) on long-term operational projects
  • Write technical reports, proposals, and papers
  • Develop geotechnical assessments and analysis capabilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Participate in National and International Conferences

Education and Licensure

  • Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (required)
  • Be eligible for membership of Engineers Australia and either have or be working towards CPENG status (required)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • 1-3+ years of consulting experience operating within a geotechnical practice group
  • Experience with using geotechnical logging software (Tablogs, Holebase, etc)
  • Competent in the use of GIS or CAD package/s
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical investigation standards and practices
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety planning, processes and procedures
  • Past experience with geotechnical investigations at mine sites
  • Experience with geotechnical interpretation (i.e. CPiET) and analysis (i.e. Slope/W).
  • Familiarity with dam safety guidelines including ANCOLD, GISTM, CDA and WA-DMR
  • Civil or tailings engineering general
  • Experience in the GIS, CAD or Tailings Modelling software (i.e. QGIS, 12d, AutoCAD, Civil3D, or Muk3D)
